Why Meat is One of the Best Foods You Can Eat for Your Immune System.

We’ve talked about the vitamins, we still haven’t covered minerals. These are just as important. In fact, it’s not an either/or situation, you want to be combining all of these nutrients for optimal absorption and function.

One of the best ways to do this seamlessly is to eat a balanced meal at each meal time. One of the best food components which contains various essential minerals AND vitamins AND protein is animal meat.

A piece of lamb, chicken or beef contains zinc, iron, b vitamins, vitamin d, Retinoid, selenium, essential fatty acids and essential amino acids.

Now, let’s not pretend all meat is created equally. Battery raised, GMO fed animals living a miserable and unhealthy existence aren’t going to provide you with much of the nutrients I mentioned.

To add insult to injury, we know they are pumped with hormones and antibiotics which would then manifest in your body by scrambling hormonal signals, as well as making you and your microbiome resistant to certain antibiotics should you need them for treatment at some point in your life.

Amino acids are so important for:

-regenerating and repairing all sorts of tissue and cells

-assisting with the energy production process in the cells (ATP synthesis)

-killing, clearing and detoxifying of viruses, pathogens and bacteria

-neurotransmitter and hormone production, circulation and metabolism (clearing away the waste of hormones once they’ve been used)

These are ALL things you want to ensure are happening seamlessly in your body at all times, but especially at times where you want your immune system to function optimally to defend you from pandemic attacks.

If you find meat hard to digest like me, here are my top tips:

  1. Drink 1-2 tbsps of apple cider vinegar in 50-70ml warm water 20-30 mins before your meal.
  2. Have a small portion of meat (size of your palm) chew thoroughly aiming for a minimum of 15 chews per bite.
  3. Minimise your carb intake with meat. Allows for smoother digestion.
  4. Pair with steamed vegetables to assist with digestion & absorption.
  5. Slow cook to tenderise your meat.
  6. Enjoy!
