Collagen Protein Strawberry Milkshake Recipe (Good for IBS & Leaky gut)

Now that the weather is warmer, I’m really enjoying having breakfast smoothies. I’m not really a fan of smoothies usually but this one is pretty clean and high in a very bio-absorbable protein (beef collagen). The h protein content is gonna keep me feeling satiated and energetic for ages without feeling bloated or full. It’s a great breakfast for people like me who don’t like eating breakfast or who want a quick ‘meal’ but without having to resort to those horrible processed, chemical tasting powder things 😩😖.

This type of protein shake is special because it used to improve the elasticity of skin, improve hair and nail growth, and is used medically to repair damaged joints. Collagen is a very important amino acid for beauty, and that is why a lot of beauty products and procedures aim to use it for skin care. By drinking it, you are getting a much more effective dose, as you will absorb it better. It will also help repair damages in the intestines (good for IBS and repairing a leaky gut). Great to have for breakfast, or after a workout, as it is high in easy to absorb protein, and is very natural, unlike protein powder which you buy in shops.

Try go for the least processed ingredients possible, choosing to go organic. This maximises the chances and levels of nutrient absorption. After all, we eat to live, you really want to get your money’s worth rather than empty calories.

INGREDIENTS: (Makes 1 serving)

-1 scoop of collagen powder (I like Great Lakes Collagen Hydrolysate)
-150ml of full fat lactose free milk OR almond milk OR cashew milk
-100ml of mineral water
-2 tablespoons of coconut yogurt (I like Rebel Kitchen Mylk Yog)
-½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
-5 strawberries, with stem removed and/or handful of blueberries
-6 ice cubes
-1 tablespoon of Stevia or Xylitol


  1. In a blender, pour in the milk of choice, water and collagen powder.
  2. Blend well on high setting for 20 seconds.
  3. Add the vanilla, yogurt, strawberries, ice cubes and sweetener of choice, and blend on high setting for 30-40 seconds.
  4. Serve in a glass.
