Gall bladder loving salad

Your gall bladder is responsible for releasing a substance known as ‘bile’ (that green stuff the possessed chick in the exorcist movie was spewing out on command).

That bile stuff helps break down the fats we consume everyday (anything fried, eggs, chicken, meat, butter, oils, seeds, nuts, dairy etc).

When we don’t have enough bile production going on, we can be facing disruptive symptoms & situations like:

-Bacterial infection & imbalance in the gut


-Sluggish liver function


-Trapped wind and gas (it smells savage)

-Pale coloured poops

-Loose stools

-Savage smelling poos (they’re not supposed to stink FYI)

-Inability to absorb vitamins A,D,E & K from your diet and supplements.

General advice which anyone can utilise to help gall bladder function & bile production:

-don’t smoke (or at least cut down)

-don’t eat fried foods (once in a while only)

-minimal dairy intake

-avoid frequent consumption of the fattier meat cuts

-eat plenty of foods which support bile production

Especially if you are a Virgo, Aries, Scorpio sun or ascendant.

Aries, Scorpio, Virgo suns and risings may be more prone to having issues with their gall bladder and bile production.

Although others may not be any of these signs but depending on how these signs are talking to other signs and planets in your chart, you may have a higher predisposition to these issues.

Here’s a simple salad recipe you can include in your weekly menu which includes many bile & liver supporting foods!

Gall bladder loving salad recipe:


-1 handful steamed broccoli

-1 chicory, thinly sliced

-1/2 fennel with the hard outer layer removed, thinly sliced across ways.

-1 chilli pepper, thinly sliced.

-1 tomato, sliced any way you like.

-1 generous handful of rocket

-2 tbsps olive oil

-1 tsp white wine vinegar

-1 tsp lemon juice

-1/2 tsp dried tarragon

-1/2 tsp dill

-sea salt to taste


Steam your broccoli and cut off any hard fibrous ends. Leave to cool on 1 side as you prepare the other ingredients.

Whisk the olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, tarragon, dill and salt together.

Toss all the salad ingredients including the cooled broccoli gently together, and drizzle with the dressing you just made.
