‘Why am I experiencing sluggish digestion/constipation?’Areas to examine: part 2

Continued.

5) Remember that nutritious food like vegetables, seeds, legumes, whole grains and nuts contain fibre which is important for creating bulk in your 💩, helping things move down.

This is one of the best and safest ways to get your fibre, as going for fibre supplements or looking at sources like bran flakes etc can actually INCREASE your constipation and sluggish bowels.

You’d be so surprised what a plate of broccoli and kale can do for your bowels!

6) You’re eating foods which don’t agree with you – at least they’re not agreeing with you right now.

Most people are not genetically wired to deal with dairy & gluten (blame your genetics). Even if you’re not coeliac or lactose intolerant. A lot of people are also intolerant of beans and lentils – or they’re not preparing them in a way which renders them to be digestible.

Stop eating these foods immediately and seek out a gut healing protocol from a nutritional therapist. With the right program, compliance and a little patience, you may find you’re able to start incorporating these foods back into your diet on a limited basis.

Continuing to eat foods your body doesn’t tolerate very well and not heeding your body’s warnings can result in a compromised immune system and a lot of inflammation. Apart from making you susceptible to the ‘c’ thing going around, you can also be fuelling problems for yourself like:

-hair loss
-acne
-irritability
-inflamed sinuses
-skin rash
-bad mood
-poor focus
-much more.

7) you’re not drinking enough water.

I’m hoping everyone can understand why. Everyone’s water needs are different, based on their activity level, age, size and geolocation. However, as a bare minimum everyone should be drinking 8 x 250ml glasses of water per day. PERIOD.

A great hack for getting things moving is to ensure you drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning and before bed.

8) Your nervous system is out of whack.

Your autonomic nervous system (the branch which does stuff on your behalf without your consciousness) takes care of producing your bowel movements.

Do you:
drink coffee when you shouldn’t be/don’t sleep enough/feel stressed? Work on these factors.

More tomorrow!
